Members of the CARE (Community. Academic. Research. Education) Oncology and Hematology Faculties recently met at the ASCO 2015 conference held in Chicago from May 29 – June 2. The CARE Resident and Trainee Education meeting was held on May 29th (8:00 am - 1:00 pm). At this meeting CARE Faculty members presented on a number of key topics in oncology, including hematology. The CARE Hematology Faculty then held a separate breakout session after the main meeting that took a deeper look at themes in hematology-oncology. The focus of their discussion was on indolent non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, multiple myeloma, and basic science for antibody drug conjugates. Additionally, due to the exciting news surrounding novel agents in the field of hematology, supportive care considerations for better patient symptom management were addressed at ASCO. This report covers some of the most important story lines in supportive care from ASCO.
The CARE Perspectives Conference Report from ASCO 2015 provides a summary of the most compelling stories and news presented at this event, and is augmented with additional perspectives from the CARE Hematology Faculty.
